An educational meeting–workshop was held with students of Full Secondary School No. 6 of the Shusha district by the Modern Information Society and Innovations Public Union, the winner of a special grant competition announced by the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan within the framework of the Year of Shusha.
The interactive session, attended by approximately 100 students, began with a presentation on the Smart City and Smart Village concepts, including an overview of the Scandinavian model, and continued with group-based activities. While discussing Shusha as a future Smart City, students shared their visions and highlighted the features they would like to see implemented. They particularly emphasized the importance of incorporating the voices of residents—especially children—into urban planning and development processes.
Following active and engaging discussions, each group delivered a presentation outlining their vision of an ideal Smart City and Smart Village. Students placed special emphasis on issues that require social responsibility and strong civic values, such as digital solutions and e-services, waste management, animal welfare, environmental protection, and the creation of equal opportunities for persons with disabilities. Their focus on these topics reflected a strong awareness of both national and global challenges and demonstrated their potential to grow into responsible and engaged citizens.
The students also noted that such meetings help raise awareness not only among themselves but also among their family members and elderly people in their communities who may have limited access to digital technologies. Acknowledging that the healthy future of Shusha—and the country as a whole—largely depends on today’s younger generation, participants expressed their determination to pursue quality education and to contribute to the future development and implementation of these ideas.
