14.10.2022/Lund. “Modern Information Society and Innovations” Public Union, the winner of the special grant competition announced by the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan within the framework of the “Year of Shusha”, held meetings with the representatives of Lund, Malmö and Helsingborg municipalities as part of a research trip to the Kingdom of Sweden. During the meetings, the projects and campaigns implemented to encourage participation in city building were discussed. Malmö municipality pays special attention to children’s participation in this process. So, in order for them to express their opinions about the city they live in in a free and fun way, maps with game elements were drawn up and opportunities were created for children to make appropriate notes on the maps. The city of Hammarby, built for 40,000 people around Lund, is quite unique in terms of the car sharing mechanism and the application of waste recycling technologies. Lund University, on the other hand, is considered one of the main academic centers in the study of the theoretical foundations of urban/rural development, especially in the field of investigating innovative solutions based on nature. The city of Helsingborg, located in the same region, is aiming to become the smartest city in Europe based on the H22 (Helsingborg 2022) project. The H22 expo, organized as part of the project, should be considered a very important event in terms of presenting the innovations used in the “smart city” to interested parties. Within the framework of the project, Helsingborg municipality organized a special center where the model of the city is located and where people can express their opinions and suggestions in order to ensure the participation of the residents. These opinions and suggestions, which are constantly collected and analyzed, are of particular importance in the implementation of better quality solutions in urban construction.
