On October 11, 2022, Copenhagen, members of the Board of Directors of the “Modern Information Society and Innovations” Public Union, the winner of the special grant competition announced by the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan within the framework of the “Year of Glass”, met at the regional office of the United Nations (UN) in Copenhagen, Denmark. the meeting with the officials took place. Members of the Union made a presentation to the UN Environment Program (UNEP) team with information on the infrastructure projects implemented in the liberated territories, especially in Shusha, the Master Plan of Aghdam and the cooperation established in these directions. During the meeting, as an example, the first smart village established in the country – Agalı village of Zangilan region was given detailed information, photos reflecting the previous and current situation of the village were brought to the attention of the participants. In addition to the mentioned, the reconstruction of the territories freed from occupation in a more sustainable and “smart” form, and the projects implemented in connection with the production of renewable energy were specially emphasized. Ms. Gabriela Prata Dias, head of the Department of Energy efficiency of the program, experts Romanas Saviskas and Zoulun Chen on the implementation of “smart solutions” during restoration and reconstruction works, taking into account local characteristics and the level of digital literacy of the population, in other UN countries (China, India, Argentina) , Turkey, etc.) experiences were brought to the attention of Union members. Also, “Capacity Building” programs organized in order to support the initiatives of “smart city” stakeholders to increase their knowledge, skills and participation in processes, and “Training for Trainers” intended for sharing information in this field in a shorter and more effective way. The importance of (“Train for Trainers”) projects was mentioned. At the end of the meeting, the UN representatives expressed their high appreciation of the steps taken in the direction of Sustainable Development Goals in Azerbaijan, especially the initiatives related to the construction of “smart city” and “smart village”, and they are always ready to share experience in this field.
